Are you waiting on God for any area of your life…something in your marriage, with your kids, friends?  Maybe it’s a job or a move? We are typically not very good at waiting, but sometimes God calls us to just that.  It can be frustrating and discouraging.  It can even take a toll on our faith.  So why in the world would God require us to do it? Is it just a waste of time?   What good might He have in all of it?

Psalm 27:14, Prov. 3:5,6, Hebrews 11:1Isaiah 40:31, Isaiah 40:31, Hosea 12:6

WAIT!

By Russell Kelfer

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried

Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied.

I plead and I wept for a clue to my fate,

And the Master so gently said,

“Child, you must wait”.

“Wait?

You say, wait!”  my indignant reply.

“Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!

Is Your hand shortened?

Or have you not heard?

By Faith, I have asked, and am claiming your Word.

My future and all to which I can relate

Hangs in the balance, and

YOU tell me to WAIT?

I’m needing a ‘yes’,

A go-ahead sign,

Or even a ‘no’ to which i can resign.

And Lord, I’ve been asking, and this is my cry:

I’m weary of asking!

I need a reply!”

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate

As my Master replied once again,

“You must wait.”

So, I slumped in my chair,

Defeated and taut and grumbled to God,

“So, I’m waiting…for what?”

He seemed, then, to kneel,

And His eyes wept with mine,

And He tenderly said,

“I could give you a sign.

I could shake the heavens,

And darken the sun.

I could raise the dead, and

Cause mountains to run.

All you seek, I could give, and pleased you would be.

You would have what you want –

But you wouldn’t know Me.

You’d not know the depth of My love for each Saint;

You’d not know the power that I give to the Faint;

You’d not learn to see through the clouds of Despair;

You’d not learn to trust just by knowing I’m There’

You’d not know the joy of resting in Me

When darkness and silence were all you could See.

You’d never experience that fullness of Love

As the peace of My Spirit descends like a Dove;

You’d know that I give and I save…for a Start

But you’d not know the depth of the beat of My Heart.

The glow of My comfort late into the Night,

The faith that I give when you walk without Sight,

The depth that’s beyond getting just what you Asked

Of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.

You’d never know, should your pain quickly Flee,

What it means that “My grace is sufficient for Thee.”

Yes, your dreams for your loved one overnight would come True,

But, Oh, the loss!  If I lost what I’m doing in You!

So, be silent, My Child, and in time you will See

That the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me.

And though oft’ may My answers seem terribly Late,

My most precious answer of all is still, “Wait.’

Overwhelmed. Every mom experiences it.  Most of us experience it on a daily basis. It can feel pretty gross. It can steal our joy. It can rob our peace.  It seems to just be a part of life.  As Believing moms, we know deep down inside that God may have something better for us in all of it, but what could that possibly be?  Listen in and be encouraged!

I’m so excited to bring a devotional written especially for you, Moms!

Find Unhurried Grace on Amazon January 22nd!

Are you a mom struggling to connect with God in what’s often an incredibly busy, exhausting, lonely season? Have you given up on devotionals because they’re either too time consuming or too shallow?

Let me help! As a mom of eight kids born less than thirteen years apart, I can relate. It’s difficult to find a devotional that isn’t overly time consuming, but is still deep enough to help us grow in our knowledge of the Word.

We can find what we need in the scriptures! I’ve often found myself diving directly into God’s Word, seeking wisdom for marriage, motherhood, and homeschooling my children. In writing this devotional, I am sharing what God has so graciously shared with me over the years: timeless truths and their application to motherhood and homeschooling.

You’re not alone, Mom. Let’s dive in together! In a world that is becoming increasingly confusing and chaotic, it is imperative that believing moms understand and embrace the unchanging truths of God’s Word, learn to discern His voice, and walk in courageous obedience.

My friend Terrie and her family were on their way home from a family trip. A quick stop at the rest area would prove to be life changing.  Terrie’s husband, Greg, was shot in the back and ultimately paralyzed from the waist down. I had the opportunity to sit down with Terrie and have her share the story from that night and how she experienced God in the midst of a crisis.

When we recorded this, Terrie and Greg were just days away from testifying in the trial that would hopefully bring one of the perpetrators to justice. As of today, that man was found guilty on all counts!

Terrie shares more of her experience and her heart on her blog, Near Your Altar.

Terrie has also written two books, Token Faith and Unto Us a Child is Born (Advent devotional)

Terrie’s recent post from the 2 year anniversary of the shooting: Two Years of Healing and Forgiveness Since the Rest Stop Shooting

Mentioned in the podcast:  Information on the event that Terrie is doing for moms of special needs children: Arise! Shine!

The scripture passages she shares in the this podcast are:

2 Corinthians 1;3,4 and 8-11

2 Corinthians 4:1 and 7-9

Navigating technology and screen time with our kids is one of our biggest challenges as parents.  We are moving into what is called the “Smart Technology” age and quite frankly, it can be overwhelming for parents!  I feel like technology and screen time have been my arch nemesis for years.  I’ve prayed through and done the best I can, but I think we all could use some clarification, direction and a plan!

Help is on the way!

So thankful to be talking with Leah Nieman today, who has been speaking for the past 8 years to parents, homeschooling groups, and teens about technology, social media, and parenting. She is going to share with us some ideas on how we can raise kids with a healthy perspective of technology and social media. I think you will be inspired and encouraged!
